Personal Narrative Rationale

In writing a personal narrative, students learn a lot about themselves- a common theme for many of the lessons I teach in writer's workshop. Through this writing, purpose is a big part of the learning goal along with creating meaning in their life through writing. Learning that events happen in life for a reason and that sharing those events with others can help the reader learn a lesson or reflect on something similar in their own life, make the student feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of writing the narrative.
